How a Round Works

vaji Blackjack card deal and gameplay

Each round of Blackjack MH begins with placing a bet. Once all players have confirmed their bets, the dealer gives everyone two cards face up and also takes two cards — one face up and one face down.

The goal is simple: the total value of your cards must be higher than the dealer's, but must never exceed 21. Number cards (2–10) carry their face value, J, Q and K are each worth 10, and an Ace is worth 1 or 11 — whichever works in your favour.

After seeing your first two cards you can take four actions: Hit (take another card), Stand (stop), Double Down (double your bet and take one more card) or Split (if you have two cards of the same value, divide them into two separate hands).

Once all players have acted, the dealer reveals their face-down card. If the dealer's total is 16 or less they must take another card; at 17 or more they must stop. If the dealer busts (goes over 21), all players whose hands are still standing win.

Bet Types and Payouts

Main Bet

The first and mandatory bet placed each round. If you beat the dealer you win an amount equal to your bet, i.e. a 1:1 payout. If the round is a draw (Push), your main bet is returned.

1:1 Payout

Blackjack (Natural 21)

Getting an Ace and a 10-value card in your first two cards is a "Blackjack". The payout for this hand is usually 3:2 — meaning a ৳100 bet wins ৳150 profit. If the dealer also has Blackjack, your bet is returned.

3:2 Payout

Insurance Bet

When the dealer's face-up card is an Ace, you get the option to place an insurance bet — up to half your main bet. If the dealer has Blackjack, the insurance pays 2:1; if not, you lose it.

2:1 Payout

Split (Divide into Two Hands)

If your first two cards are of the same value, you can separate them to create two new hands. Each hand requires its own bet. Either one or both hands can win.

Separate Bet

Double Down

If your hand looks favourable you can double your bet — but in return you receive only one additional card. Used at the right moment, it can double your winnings.

Bet ×2

Side Bets

Blackjack MH may offer various side bets depending on the table, such as Perfect Pairs or 21+3. These are separate from the main bet and operate according to their own payout structure.

House Edge — Understanding the Casino's Math

The house edge is the percentage of each bet that the casino retains on average over the long term. Blackjack has one of the lowest house edges among casino card games — played with correct strategy, it is often 1% or less.

Rule differences change the house edge. The number of decks (1 deck vs. 6–8 decks), whether the dealer hits on Soft 17, and how freely Double Down is permitted all combine to push the house edge anywhere from 0.2% to nearly 2%.

Side bets generally carry a higher house edge than the main bet. The insurance bet is mathematically unfavourable in most situations over the long term — experts therefore advise new players to avoid insurance.

Rule Change Effect on House Edge
Dealer stands on Soft 17 Better for the player
Blackjack pays 3:2 Normal and favourable
Blackjack pays 6:5 House edge increases noticeably
Double Down allowed after Split Player advantage increases
More decks (6–8) House edge increases slightly
Insurance Bet Generally favours the house
vaji Blackjack basic strategy chart

Basic Strategy for Beginners

Basic strategy means making the mathematically correct decision for every possible hand. You do not need to memorise it — a little practice makes it feel natural. The tips below are enough to get started:

  • Hard 17 or more: Always Stand — taking a card increases your risk of busting.
  • Hard 8 or less: Always Hit, because the chance of busting is low.
  • Dealer's card is 4–6 (weak card): If your hand is 12–16, Stand — the dealer is more likely to bust.
  • Total of 11: Double Down against all dealer cards except a 10.
  • Two Aces or two 8s: Always Split — you double your chance of getting a strong hand.
  • Two 5s or two 10s: Never Split — breaking up a 10 or a 20 is not beneficial.
  • Insurance: Avoid it at the start — it works in the house's favour over the long term.

On vaji, you can practise this strategy without pressure in the digital Blackjack in the Virtual Casino section. You can play on mobile from Dhaka or anywhere else in the country.

Live Dealer vs. Digital Version

Blackjack MH can be played in two different environments on vaji. Which one suits you depends on your preference and convenience.

Live Dealer Blackjack

  • A real dealer deals the cards in front of you — visible live on camera
  • The feeling of sitting at the same table as other players
  • A set time limit applies for each decision
  • Table limits are generally higher — suited for experienced players
  • Some tables have a chat feature

Digital (RNG) Blackjack

  • Software-driven, play at your own pace
  • Ideal for learning basic strategy — less pressure
  • Generally lower minimum bets — easier for new players
  • Runs normally even on a slower internet connection
  • Play comfortably on mobile with the vaji App

Frequently Asked Questions — Blackjack MH

Blackjack MH (Multi-Hand) means you can play more than one hand in the same round. In regular Blackjack you play one hand, but in the MH version you can play 2–5 hands at the same time. Each hand requires its own bet and each decision is made separately. This increases your chances of winning in every round, but it also increases your total risk.

Counting cards in a single deck is theoretically possible, but in practice it is very difficult. Most casino games use 6–8 decks together and the deck is shuffled every round or every few rounds. In live dealer games the same reason limits the opportunity to count cards. Basic strategy is the most effective method for new players.

When an Ace is counted as 11, that is a "soft hand". For example, Ace + 6 = Soft 17 (with the Ace counted as 11). Taking another card on this hand carries no risk of busting because the Ace can act as 1 if needed. A "hard hand" is one that has no Ace, or where the Ace must be counted as 1. Hard 12–16 is the most difficult situation.

Yes. Blackjack MH can be played easily on vaji's mobile platform. Apps are available for both Android and iOS, and it can also be played on mobile via browser. Live dealer tables run at full-quality streaming on mobile too. You can find information about the vaji App on that page.

This depends on the specific table's rules. There are two common versions: "Stand on Soft 17" — the dealer stops even on soft 17, which is more favourable for the player. "Hit on Soft 17" — the dealer takes another card on soft 17, which gives the house a slight extra advantage. It is worth checking this rule before sitting at a table.

Surrender is the option to give up your hand after seeing your first two cards and get back half your original bet. "Late Surrender" is more common — this option is available when the dealer does not have Blackjack. In tough situations such as Hard 16 against a dealer's 9, 10 or Ace, Surrender can be the mathematically correct decision.
